There Is Beauty in Imperfection

Recently there has been a lot of buzz online about being perfectly imperfect, finding the beauty in brokenness, and being okay with not being perfect. This is a similar message. Self-acceptance is a concept that requires a person to identify and embrace all aspects of their true self. This implies the parts that are recognized as being favorable as well as the parts that would typically be rejected or disapproved by others. The first step in making changes (if you find it necessary to make changes) is embracing what is there. We must first identify, then acknowledge, and finally embrace. This process does not have a time frame, but it is important to honor your own time. If you identify a trait that may be labeled as a limitation, but it has served as motivation or even charm for you, express gratitude for it. Some of our "flaws" allows us to be relatable to others. Some of our traits let others know that it is okay to be their authentic selves as well. Furthermore, it is important to embrace these things because of what can come from them. Groundbreaking discoveries, art masterpieces, and culture changing songs. Also, the best scary movies come from the most complex minds. Learning how to use your unique traits to your advantage is the best way to find beauty in imperfection. Accepting imperfections is only part of the journey, embracing them is the ultimate goal.
